I would disagree with you about V for Vendetta. I thought it was actually pretty bad. I have read the graphic novel and that does cloud my judgement a bit, but I think the movie was too "Hollywood" and it didn't touch enough on the politics of V.
While the action scenes were intense and incredibly well orchestrated, I thought the pacing of the film killed it. Big bang at the beginning, weak middle with far to much exposition, and an over-dramatic ending.
Plus I think Natalie Portman is an awful actress. She's really only got two settings, "I don't have emotions" or "I'm really intense!" She's like a more believable version of Tom Cruise, albiet not by much.
