The major problem with the prop, as well as Prop. 2,4,7, and 10, are that they're worded very trickily. Some unsuspecting well meaning people might vote for those propositions after reading the title to think they are doing the right thing.
I think the major problem is Southern California, where all the idiots live. I hear the Religious right down there are talking about how 8 will save souls or something without even mentioning Gay marriage.
Even still, when you look at the ballot, it says "Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage" it's REALLY hard to fuck up....
I'm much worried about 2 for it's heart warming goodness (which will kill all viable animal farming industry in the state), 4 for it's truly awkward wording for a 48 hour waiting period while a girl's parents are notified prior to an abortion, and 7 and 10 which promote alternative energies, but at higher cost and very little research funds made available (most of the kickbacks go to major power companies and hybrid car manufacturers[seriously 20% to research alternative fuels, 11% for alternate fuel vehicle research, and 58% to gov. rebates for purchase of a hybrid car? all at a cost of $5 billion?]).
