Despite the grim economic news, watching the GOP bash itself against the rocks remains incredibly entertaining. The right-wing faction thinks the solution to the American people rejecting right-wing policies is to be more right-wing. To that end, Sarah Palin remains quite popular given her explosive appeal for the GOP "base". As they fall into infighting and regional factionalism, the Republican party has never looked worse. And as Bush's presidency wraps up, it looks like, at best, a bad joke (where the punchline takes the form of thrown shoes, presumably). The die-hards' last defense seems to be "at least Bush kept us safe" which makes you wonder where they were during that event that purportedly changed everything forever.
