I basically agree. When [livejournal.com profile] theheretic predicted that Obama would lose a primary challenge in 2012 but that the Republicans would still find some way to lose, I bet that wouldn't happen. Still think that's unlikely, but now I'm basically in the position of working against my own prediction.

I acknowledge that Obama is marginally better than the Republicans. But still, the guy gives us the Republican healthcare plan (which, admittedly, the Republicans would still not actually have tried to pass), Guantanamo continued, TSA gropedowns, expanded war in Afghanistan, assassination of US citizens without due process, a completely incoherent policy in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a half-assed and ill-targeted economic stimulus, no major investment in rail transportation and renewable energy, no end to a perverse and increasingly dysfunctional system of agricultural subsidies, no reining in an out-of-control military-industrial complex. And now, a tax plan that is quite possibly worse than the Republicans' original suggestion in the long run. And Republicans have successfully painted Obama as far left-wing, way out of the political mainstream.
