I agree, the whole point of "interesting" is not to be "middle of the road".

The peak lapel was popular in the 1920s and 30s, again in the 1970s, and it's coming back into vogue in the late 2000s / early 2010s. If I had to guess, I'd say that will be popular for the next 3-10 years and about 30 (non-consecutive) of the next 100. It's not a new innovation, at any rate, though using that style of lapel on single-breasted suits is more of a modern trend.

I actually don't think the buttons are so unusual, except perhaps the buttonholes are more pronounced than they usually are on a suit-jacket? Five button vests on three-piece suits don't seem to be unusual nowadays, at any rate. Take a look for yourself.
