An overdue correction: When I said my host family had "a dog and a cat", I was incorrect. They actually have a dog and far too many cats. (I only saw one cat around the first day, and Japanese isn't picky about plurals, so the number of pets wasn't clear from the (electronically translated (by Kyoko)) emails I got from my host family.)

One of the cats got fixed yesterday, so it was up all night whining loudly. Made it rather hard to get a good night's sleep.

(Otherwise, the family pets are pleasant to have around, although some of the cats really don't like me.)

awwww neutered cats can be quite a scene sometimes... They'll die down eventually.
