PAX Comes to Boston
Went to PAX East (Penny Arcade Expo, a gaming convention) this weekend, which was fairly awesome. DJ was there as well, plus saw Ginneh on Saturday and ran into a few other acquaintances.
Played some games (more Brawl and learned the appeal of Peggle), saw some new indie titles exhibited (and tried demos), waited in line forever to see Rockstar's latest offering (Red Dead Redemption, an open-world Western), played with a monitor that lets you view the latest games in stereo 3D (with off-the-shelf hardware and software, save for the monitor itself and some polarized glasses; I thought it was awesome but some found it more annoying or disorienting), heard some video game music remixed (including Metroid Metal and DJ Cutman), saw some good / detailed / clever costumes (cleverest one was a pair, one with a sign that said "Free Hugs", the other with a sign reading "Deluxe Hugs $1").
Was fun. Also discovered that some of the best breakfast in the city can be found at a bookstore.
