Zombies and Rambling

So Zombie LARPish-ness was extremely fun. (Yay Oliners at MIT!) The game was ridiculously difficult and fast paced, so our team died in short order, but there were no shortage of funny and scary moments, so it was a lot of fun.

I stayed later rest of my team, NPCing, hanging out with Xave, Patty (Xave's friend), and the rest of the LARPers, and generally trying to be social with varying degrees of success, and also feeling sad/regretful/confused about socialness and Olin-vs-MIT-ness and politics and my plans for winter break.

And I heard a singer in the subway station on the way home... that's one of the reasons Boston is better than Cleveland: There aren't street artists in Cleveland, or at least not many. I think street art is cool; it is in some way the most honest profession.

And I saw a piece of graffiti in the subway station reading "good luck", and I wondered who had written it and why. Who were they wishing good luck too? Were they sincere, or sarcastic?

Have I changed? I want to act differently than I did before, but is it worth the effort? Am I succeeding? It's hard to try to be more self-aware, as one starts off with no frame of reference.

well in regards to Boston, yes...it is 9 million times better than clevo. It's actually my favorite city in the states. San Diego is really good too. As is Chicago.

I want to be a street clown, but I still need to get around to it. I also need to think of an act. Any suggestions?

You are changing. You're not done changing, because one never is, and you aren't satisfied with who you are yet, and I honestly hope you'll never entirely be satisfied with who you are, because utterly self-satisfied people are insufferable assholes most of the time. *g*

The point is, it's only over the distance, when you turn and look back and think, "oh, yeah, look, this is me then, and this is me now, and wow. I have progressed." that you really see the change. And when I say over time, well, it isn't an overnight process, that's for sure *g*

What about the saxaphone guy?

There is a certain amount of danger in being a small female solo street performer. If you want to live to a ripe old age, I suggest you either move to Amsterdam or Spain, where there is a whole bunch of street performers around, or join a whole group of street performing clowns. In both, the profit would be less. You might want to also learn about the art of balooning, if you want to be a street performing clown.
