Babies, Cooking, and Stress

My niece-to-be arrived on June 1, and found immediate employment in the cute-baby-pictures mine. Hello, Emilia, and welcome!

This past weekend, I went to the first birthday party for the baby of one of Juile's friends. Was fun!

Root vegetables have turned to greens in the latest vegetable boxes, so I cooked a lot this weekend, too. Collard greens became salad with the addition of cider vinegar, orange juice, and golden raisins. Kale became kale chips for the party. Romaine lettuce also made a nice simple salad with thin-sliced salami and lemon. Swiss chard was sauteed with onions. Asparagus (the odd vegetable out) was steamed and chilled with balsamic and mint. All very good.

What's less good is that my stress about wedding logistics has shot up to critical levels for no discernable reason, the sort of stress that makes all my joints ache and gives me bizarre stress dreams. It's annoying. Prep for the wedding is pretty much done, the really critical stuff is all done. There are plenty of details to wrap up but everything that remains is pretty straightforward.

I just need to continue to make gradual progress, and the day-of logistics will end up as stress free as possible. Hard to believe that's in less that two months!
