"You Patriots, Always Causing Trouble..."
This weekend was pretty cool. I spent a lot of time in Boston.
I saw Stealth, which was better than I expected. (On the other hand, I don't think I've ever failed to enjoy a movie that has both AI and stuff blowing up...)
I ran around the Common and the Boston Public Gardens. I managed to trip over one of the chains lining the paths. (I'm incredibly clumsy, so I considered going around, decided to just be careful, and winded up getting my back foot caught in the chain anyways. Landed hard on a knee and a camera, and greatly alarmed the crowd I fell into the middle of. (Fortunately, my knee was just bruised, and my camera just had its case scratched up a bit.))
I also followed a tour guide in a tricorner hat along the freedom trail (probably something you're technically supposed to pay admission for, but whatever...). The guy gave quite an interesting tour, and the walk was nice, too.
A few pictures to share:

From the subway. This is clearly the best advertising campaign ever.

It's always a bit carnival-like at the Common.

A view of the Capitol Building through the trees.

One of the pedal powered swan boats in the Gardens. I remember those from when I was a kid...

The scientologists hawk their religion.

A hippie. Not a very good musician, but, then again, that would sort of decrease the hippie-ness of it all...

This dude looks sketchier than the hippie IMO, but he was a much better musician. (His friend (who had departed by the time I took this picture) totally beat him at sketchiness, though, making less than tactful remarks about passerby and offering me a shot of vodka from a bottle in his pocket. (I politely declined.))

This drummer was by far the best of the musicians I saw. ("All donation go to my manager, Frank, the guy in the yellow tuxedo." Frank is standing stage right.)
This week has been going all right so far. I head home on Wednesday afternoon, and I'll be there until Sunday.

OH OH OH! There is this great Japanese place down Newbury Street. Past Newbury Comics for like a block or two and then it's off to the right on one of the little side streets. It was pretty cheap and pretty good.

And I'll have to check that out...
