Extra Dance

Yesterday, I ran into someone at the Diesel meetup who was going to the Contact Improv Jam that evening, and I wound up tagging along. Was intense, odd, and a lot of fun. The form itself is unusual, the jam sessions seem to use contact as a form of dancing meditation (in both the "general mind-focusing technique" sense and the "reflection on a topic" sense) as well as a form of social dance.

Today I went to medieval folk dancing again.

Friday I'll be dancing in the middle of Mass. Ave.

Very interesting. Is it always done by 2 people or is contact improv sometimes done by a larger group? I remember going to some dance improv events 30 years ago in Cambridge soon after I graduated from college.

Usually pairs (they say "duets") but sometimes a larger group.
