Today was an awesome day. In the morning, I bought shinkansen (bullet train) tickets for the second leg of the Hiroshima trip (four nights in Hiroshima, two in Kyoto, then back to Tokyo).

After that, I journeyed across the city to Harajuku. That seems to be quite the happenin' place, where crazy Japanese teenagers in Tokyo go to act like crazy Japanese teenagers (on the weekends, anyways). Cosplayers abounded in dramatic garb, merchants hawked their wares from the sidewalk, the FHC was out in force (which surprised me... Japan doesn't seem to be too big on the whole hugging thing). There was an Earth Day festival today, too. I ran into several other IES students who were going on (or failing to go on) a field trip for the Popular Culture area studies class.

I enjoyed walking around, ate lunch at a Mexican joint (no burritos, sadly, but it was cheap and good), and generally enjoyed being a tourist. I bought a little painting to bring home as a gift for Kyoko. It was quite an expensive day, but a very good one.

And then I lost my cell-phone on the train on the way home. :-/
