Pi-Con Time!

Today I depart for Pi-Con in exotic West Springfield, MA.

Pi-Con Arrival

I've arrived at the venue and gotten situated in my room. My room is quite good, on the "executive floor" with a big comfortable bed and all the amenities. The hotel is familiar, I was here once before for a Magic tournament with some other Oliners. I had forgotten about that, but the architecture of the place is unmistakable. Most of the rooms are on the first and second floors surrounding an indoor courtyard with a pool and a cabana-style restaurant. This is not so good, since the resort flavor seems a thin and cheesy veneer (especially given the location) and the main walking and eating area of the hotel smells like chlorine.

Time to head down to registration and introduce myself to some of my fellow con-goers. Actual panels and so on don't start 'til 5.

(Also, I managed to drop my cell phone getting out of the cab at the hotel. I waved down the cab, looked for it in the back seat, and then the cabbie saw it on the ground just as it got run over. Still works fine. Not even a scratch.)
