Book Movie Previews
Jul. 29th, 2009 10:09 amI was going to say something about the previews from the movies last weekend, but forgot. So:
1. They're making The Lightning Thief into a movie. I guess that's not surprising given how much reviews of those books have used the phrase "next Harry Potter"... although the books weren't nearly so popular, so I wonder how well the movie will sell. Also wonder if it will be worth watching, but maybe they won't screw it up.
2. They're making Where the Wild Things Are into a movie? (With Dave Eggers working on the screenplay, evidently.) The adaptation of short stories into full length movies is sort of interesting... how do you stay true to the original when your ratio is something like a page of screenplay for every three words of the original story? Although it does seem like they're sticking closer to the feel of the original story than also soon-to-be-released adaptation of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I'll probably see it, though, and the preview made me want to reread the book... such nostalgia for children's stories must mean I'm getting old.
