Political: The maximum-sham Senate trial of Trump surprisingly didn't end exactly as was predictable. Some real credit to Romney for sticking his neck out with that vote. Seems almost pure downside for him, which adds credibility that the vote was on principle. Other Republican Senators were really stretching things with their claim to pursue any sort of impartial justice here (the usual game of "what if Obama did anything like this" applies), but it's worth noting that Romney is the only Senator to vote against party in this manner in the face of Presidential misconduct. (Curse the Senate of 1999! And curse Biden twice, why not.)

Since then, the retaliatory firings have started (also a felony, in case we're still counting) and the DOJ has taken a turn to being overtly run in the interests of Trump. (Of course, people who were a few years ago aghast at the implications that the AG talked to the Secretary of State's husband will be fine with this. "What if Obama" etc.)

Personal: Work's been tiring, home life has been tiring, getting Eris to sleep has been a huge amount of trouble this week. Twice her first-choice 10PM activity was "watching Daniel Tiger" and, when informed that was not an option, her second-choice activity was "have a half-hour plus screaming tantrum about not being able to watch Daniel Tiger". At least I got some extra sleep this weekend. And it's a long weekend.

My cousins Ben and Melissa and little cousin Nell were in town this weekend, so there was a bit of a get-together of extended family today. That was nice.
