l33tminion: (Chaos)
The world turned, and my age changed from one semiprime number to another last Friday, as it also will next year.

Had some nice celebration, including getting lobster rolls (the first ones served there!) and a rootbeer float at the new Starlite Snack Shack (new summer pop-up serving out of the temporarily transformed Parlor Sports) on Thursday afternoon. First time getting takeout and eating it outside since the pandemic started. Though with daycare at disease DEFCON 1, I don't think I'll be doing much outdoor dining, and takeout will be back to only things I can diligently reheat at home before serving. If any of us get so much as a cold, it will be a big disruption.

To some extent it does feel like all celebrations are a bit on hold until the crisis is over. And this country seems very eager to drop "we need to contain the epidemic" in favor of "maybe the epidemic doesn't need to be contained". Even in Massachusetts, which is being quite cautious, estimated Rt seems to be above 1 again. Which means future lockdowns are on the menu. I am trying to make the most of the temporary reprieve, but it's disheartening.

It's been strange to have Sandy Island Camp not happen. Reminds me I need to get in some time to read actual books.
