Some Distractions
Aug. 2nd, 2020 12:13 pmFive weeks of reopening in. Things around here are okay. Somerville has pushed out phase three of reopening until at least August 17. Local schools will be doing... something.
Still tired, but at least this is back to somewhat close to the levels of tiredness before this emergency kicked in. I sure don't feel ready for the rest of this year.
I haven't done much of anything in my free time. Some good cooking, but I feel like I'm killing so much time.
I did play Superliminal, which was very worthwhile. It's a first-person game with puzzles focused on forced perspective and similar optical illusions. My main criticism is that it leans a bit too hard into being like Portal in its comedic style. But overall I thought the bite-sized game (a few hours or so) was well worth the $20. The puzzles weren't particularly difficult, but there were a lot of satisfying "aha" moments, it was generally very cool and visually striking.
And I've been playing Paper Mario: The Origami King with Eris. It's a very fun and charming game.
